Bherogarh batik cluster situated on the banks of Maa Kshipra river in Ujjain is famous for it’s block batik and free hand batik work but some talented Master craftsman like Mohd. Wasim Chippa learnt the craft of Indonesian batik directly from the craftsman of Indonesia.
There is a huge differene in between normal block Batik and Indonesian batik. Indonesian batik provides a scope to apply 9 to 10 color shades on single fabric unlike 2-3 colors in block batik. Indonesian batik craftsman uses a kind of pen to draw very intrinsic outline using wax and then apply colors. Indonesian batik work is very minutely done with maximum color combination on a single fabric or product.
